Pokémon Global Localized Trading Card Game:
Strategy, Production & Distribution
The localized Trading Card Game was only produced in the USA and COPAG regions. The Leadership Team had an intention and timeline to move production of certain languages into the European Union in order to align with direction from The Pokémon Company’s creator and President Tsunekazu Ishihara “Think Global. Act Local.” By doing so save cost, transportation time and get products to customers earlier for successful retail setup prior to launch dates. Assigned to lead this project, traveled to the vendors with directors and started with the “crawl, walk, run” by ensuring three projects were completed successfully first and then very quickly ramped up, building their repertoire of product types and languages to produce by volume, line setups, specification & material availability, component shipments, etc.
Strategy was aimed at understanding, overseeing and executing the full process as it existed and identifying high level milestones for every project in every region in every language globally produced of the Trading Card Game for the year. Turning it into a translatable workable process for the newly chosen Oracle ERP and PLM systems and tools selected by the leadership team. This included communicating and working with all of the cross-functional teams responsible for varying functions within the process for example TPC Japan through Bilingual, Legal, Tax, Product Safety, Design, Localization Design, Editing, Sales, Finance, Logistics, Brand, Marketing, OP, Pokémon Center, London, Dublin and Mexico headquarters, business partners, vendors and agencies. There wasn’t a piece of the process or puzzle I was not directly involved in. Particular talents include an eye for color across mediums and quality, the ability to foresee potential future pitfalls, propose functional solutions and dual path solves when needed. Privileged to be apart of the SV8.5 Press Check. To name a few of the many specialty products created: the highly coveted Van Gogh Promo Card, the SV3.5 151 Ultra Premium Collection plus full remaining product set, first of its kind Horizons TCG box that included imagery from the animation series, SWSH12.5 Crown Zenith full product line, ETB Elite Trainer Boxes, Collectors Chest and other tins.
